In this position you’ll use your skills and experience to perform scheduled service, fault analysis/troubleshooting and potential main component, or blade work on wind turbines. During a typical day, you will work at heights and in confined spaces, while being exposed to the elements of weather. At this site near Oyen, Alberta, you will typically have shifts 5 days a week at 8-10 hours a day, but you also will have an on-call rotation schedule for off-work hours (weekends). The team here normally works in teams of 2-3 and typically will climb 1-2 turbines a day. This is a new site and for the first 6 months or so you will be traveling to another site for on-the-job training, which will be covered by Vestas.
Requirements include:
- You will need a safety-focused mindset and your positive attitude will contribute to your ability to work in a team environment
- You will bring a high school diploma or equivalent and you will bring 2-3 years of transferable mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical work background
- An agricultural background or work experience is a great transferable avenue to the entry level service technician position with Vestas
- You will train and certify through our state-of-the-art wind technician training program
