As a Transport Officer III, you will provide enforcement services under the direction of the Director of Municipal Services, working collaboratively with partner agencies to support Board initiatives. Your role will focus on safeguarding infrastructure and protecting public safety through proactive patrols. You will investigate public inquiries, complaints, and concerns, and take appropriate action while maintaining professionalism and fairness.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience: We welcome applicants with a variety of backgrounds and are open to considering a combination of relevant experience, skills, and education. However, candidates must have Grade 12 or GED and a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Peace Officer or equivalent enforcement role. Experience in commercial vehicle enforcement is a valuable asset.
- Certification: Candidates must be eligible for a Level 1 Community Peace Officer appointment from Alberta Justice and Solicitor General.
- Enforcement Experience: While three (3) years of experience as a Peace Officer is preferred, we recognize that skills gained in other enforcement, security, or public safety roles may also be valuable. Proven experience in enforcement is essential. Candidates must have a demonstrated history of applying Provincial Statutes, Ministerial Orders, and other relevant legislation in the field.
- Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with Provincial Statutes, MRF, report management software, ROADS, and other enforcement-related systems is beneficial. A strong working knowledge of enforcement processes, documentation, and reporting is required.
- Tactical Training: Approved certifications in Defensive Baton, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Spray, and shotgun use are preferred. Candidates must already hold or have obtained these certifications.
